The role of geographical thought in normalization of Mathematical Sciences

In the current context of education has an important place to get attention for spatial thinking in view of the educational standards for the various disciplines. These standards-based discipline. developed in the mid-1990s. provide statements of the K-12 students should know, understand and be able to do: they should provide a basis for program development. Assessment methods, teacher training and additional material of instruction. 1: The Committee focused on two sets of standards. Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics developed in 2000. This is an update of the first set of standards. to be published in Mathematics in 1989. Second National Science Education Standards, prepared by the National Research Council in 1996. Several tested sets of standards have been, including those for geography (Geography Education Standards Project, 1994), but math and science standards provide a direct link to the spatial thinking and reasoning, and they are of fundamental importance for the process of education and the idea a technically skilled workforce.

What is the case with the highest standards of training, these two sets of standards in relation to spiritual issues with difficult levels to the standards set for the school organized along each topic. Unifying concepts and processes in science, science as inquiry, physical: for example, are built around eight academic standards, intellectual categories. al sciences, life sciences, earth and space science and technology, science in personal and social perspectives, history and nature of science. For each category there is a content standard and “as a result of the planned activities for all students at this level, the contents of the standard is to be understood, or are certain skills must be developed” (NRC, 1996, p. 6). In the case of the first category, there is no distinction by grade level, the other seven categories. Understanding is organized into three clusters Grade: K-4, 5-8. and 9-12. The eight standards are they as a whole to achieve scientific literacy used.

There are two questions on the relationship between spatial thinking and sets content standards: (1) The basic principles of spatial thinking some explicit expectations set by different standards? (2) The concepts of spatial thinking implicit in the standards? To answer these questions, the Committee considers that start the two sets of standards in order. Rather, it also has relations to other things, how to speak a language or using the Software, including Arabic Rosetta Stone Rosetta Stone and Chinese. to carry

unique approach to dialogue with people in real science, the goal of positively influencing communities to take steps to improve our world, the Liberty Science Center has been in Jersey City reinvented inspire improve educational tours and school groups in scientific literacy and understanding.

Science museums first appeared in the 1800s, with emphasis on the collection, research and presentation of artifacts in an attempt to understand the past. In the 1960s, science museums sought to entertain their audience and themselves – to increase the scientific knowledge. Today, many science centers focus solely on interactivity. Invented the new Liberty Science Center has put its efforts to promote activism, real science, as a resource and catalyst for the promotion of the realm of science, technology and society.

Reinforced by its historic and cosmopolitan city that aspires Ellis Iceland with a view of the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Science Center for students called upon to inspire an understanding of the continued connection between scientific progress and how to improve the human condition.

For example, the mid-program “Live From Robotic Surgery” live teleconference for student use in the operating room, where they take a direct interaction with surgeons and see how the progress of science and the human benefits of the technology. The program includes topics cardiology, neurosurgery and renal transplantation. Other programs include lab workshops in the lab, state-of-the-art, where students engage in an interactive learning experience led by a science educator />
As students explore the new Liberty Science Center, they encounter “Skyscraper” A new perspective in the planning, design and technology of these fascinating structures. Whether to test walking a steel girder above the exhibition hall, downward jet-powered hurricane-force winds, a building’s design, or take a quiet moment, to the destruction of the World Trade Center reflected, “Skyscraper” leaves students a new appreciation and altered view of the impressive panorama that surrounds the center.

“Signs of infection,” explains how the decisions we contribute on a daily basis to the rise and fall of infectious diseases. In this exhibition, the students, the interactions between humans and microbes to explore more about the emerging disease, and how science develops tools and technologies to prevent and treat infections. Visits Students may conduct experiments in microbiology and epidemiology own lab in the middle.

While most of the new exhibits in the middle are the students can have some familiar favorites earlier in the day: says: “Wonder Why. Observe, Imagine, Create”, exhibits include the fossil-studded climbing wall, taking into account the properties of air at the Bernoulli Blower, or a masterpiece in the digital darkroom.

Science to life in demonstrations offered live in the exhibition rooms of the center. The student group travelers have the opportunity to participate and questions in a science educator on issues that are correlated with exposure. For example, students learn to be an expert amateur with surveying equipment or learn the specific steps needed to create a sterile environment in the operating room while performing a live surgery on a patient (vegetative). Or they can learn first hand how lasers work and discover some of the ways lasers are used in everyday life.

In the Liberty Science Center IMAX Dome Theater, student tours journey into ancient tombs or observe the surface of Mars during their scheduled screenings. In the Digital 3D Theater, unfolds the story of NASA’s Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory mission through the eyes of the major participants in the NASA. The film shows the first stunning 3D images that will ever captured the sun and explains the key findings of the scientific community to win the mission.

The Liberty Science Center offers a variety of educational programs based on age and interest. Some of the most popular choices include lab workshops that are held state-of-the-art in a lab, where students engage in learning experiences of meteorology to New Jersey, fauna, with a teacher of science. Enjoy enhanced opportunity for groups to an on-site experience to choose and deeper into one of the new exhibition, or select an outdoor experience and learn about the Hudson River estuary.
